Alys Thomas has sat proudly at the top of the 200m butterfly FINA world rankings since that stunning 2:05.45 gold medal winning swim at Australia’s Commonwealth Games in April. She’s now got a busy schedule at the Glasgow 2018 European Swimming Championships, but Sunday’s 200 fly is the focus for the 27 year-old Swansea, Wales based swimmer.  Her swim on the Gold Coast was a breakthrough international medal that took years of patience and perseverance, including overcoming injures that have forced her to practice underwater skills relentlessly while arm injuries prevented her from swimming on the surface. Thomas won at the 100m at the Olympic Trials last year, but missed out on selection. Here’s what Alys had to say about beating Belmonte, and about her preparation for the British...

ITU, Jessica Learmonth, swimming, training, triathlon -

Great Britain’s Jessica Learmonth is one of the top ITU swimmers in the world. She’s always in the front pack, and often emerges first out of the water, including at the World Triathlon Series Grand Final in Cozumel last fall. She recently landed on her first career ITU World Cup podium in Cape Town last month. We reached out to Jess to hear about some of her favorite swim sets. She is a former national level swimmer, covering 60,000+ meters per week. Now, turning her focus to triathlon, she only spends around five hours a week in the water. Maximizing her time in...
